Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Sunday said that the deadline for completing the electronic KYC process by ration card holders is February 15 and there would be no further extension.
Talking to the media, Patra said that as of date over 37,00,000 beneficiaries under the food security programmes are yet to complete e-KYC verification process. He urged these beneficiaries to complete their eKYC within the stipulated time. “Any incomplete e-KYC application will lead to the concerned ration cards being cancelled after February 15, 2025,” the minister warned.
In reply to a question, Patra informed that during the verification it has been found that around 8,00,000 beneficiaries have obtained their ration cards fraudulently. All these beneficiaries belong to taxable income groups.
So far, around 6,00,000 people have submitted applications for new ration cards. On the other hand, 12,000 people who are employed or belong to the taxable groups have voluntarily surrendered their ration cards.
