**Bhubaneswar:** There is no immediate threat from cyclone Kyant on Odisha and the maximum impact that could be felt on 27th of October when the cyclone reached North West of Bay of Bengal is that the coastal Odisha may get a wind speed of 55 to 65 kmph.
Briefing media persons on the update of the possible cyclone which now lies near Myanmar and has now recurved North Bay of Bengal, Specail Relief Commissioner- P K Mohapatra has informed that there is no need to panic at all due to cyclone Kyant as the system might not have any impact at all on Odisha and may move towards Bangladesh as per the studies done by IMD.
The SRC however told that his bigger concern is that the farmers should immediately harvest their crop in the field and bundle it in next couple of days and keep it covered, so that if it rains their crop won’t get damaged.
The SRC has directed all concerned district collectors to carry forward this message to the farmers. He also said that the fishermen have also been warned of not venturing into the sea.
Nevertheless, the state govt is prepared for any eventualities if the system changes course which is very unlikely according to the SRC. In view of this situation all preparatory measures are in place including putting on alert he ODRAF and fire brigade teams.
