Bhubaneswar: The Director of Public Health Dr. Nilakantha Mishra on Saturday said the state has not reported any new Covid-19 cases.
He stated that the state continues to conduct regular testing and that the situation remains under control.
“There have been no new Covid-19 cases detected in Odisha. We are continuing testing as before and testing facilities remain active throughout the state,” Dr. Mishra said while addressing the media.
Amid rising Covid-19 cases in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong, Dr. Mishra added that the state health department is closely monitoring global developments.
“We are aware of the situation through print and electronic media. We are also in touch with the World Health Organization (WHO), which has not issued any report indicating the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant,” he said. “The recent surge in cases in those countries is attributed to weakened immune systems, especially among the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. These groups are advised to remain cautious.”
He clarified that, as of now, no special alert has been issued in India.
“We are fully alert. Discussions are ongoing with both the state government and the Government of India. If any new developments occur, the public will be informed immediately and necessary measures will be taken,” he assured.
