No Respite From Soaring Mercury: Bhubaneswar Records 39.2°C At 11.30am

Bhubaneswar:  It seems as if there is no escape from blistering heat wave conditions. If that is not the case, as many nine places in the state might not have recorded temperature above 35° Celsius by 11.30 am.

As per the information provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office here, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature followed by Keonjhar at 39.2° Celsius.

Places that have been experiencing scorching heat include Jharsuguda (38°C), Balasore (38°C), Rourkela (37.8°C), Sambalpur (37.4°C), Hirakud (37.6°), Puri(32.4°C), Paradip (32°C) and Gopalpur (31.8°C)

It may be mentioned that Malkangiri and Boudh recorded 42.0° Celcsius on Thursday, followed by Angul and Bolangir with 41.7° Celsius, 41.6° Celsius in Jharsuguda, 41.0° Celsius in Bhawanipatna and Titilagarh, 40.4° Celsiusin in Nuapada, 40.2° Celsius in Rourkela, 40.1° Celsius in Sundargarh and 40° Celsius in Talcher.

“Due to prevailing north-westerly and westerly dry air, the maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts and to be above 3°C to 5°C above normal at some places till April 6,” the IMD bulletin said.

Meanwhile, yellow warning for heat wave conditions has been issued for several districts which include Nayagarh, Boudh, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput and Dhenkanal.
