Bhubaneswar: A day after the BJP’s State Unit president Manmohan Samal announced that his party will fight the elections alone in the State, the saffron party’s Odisha election in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar on Saturday seconded Manmohan saying there was no discussion on any alliance in Odisha.
“I have been maintaining since the beginning that we will form a double-engine government in the state. I will repeat the same thing whatever I have told earlier. Odisha is going to have a double-engine government this time. We are confident of winning over 80 of the 147 assembly seats in the upcoming elections. And when it comes to Lok Sabha elections, we are going to win over 16 out of the total 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha.”
Talking about the BJP-BJD alliance, Tomar said, “No discussion was held in this regard. No BJD leaders met me in Delhi and held discussions with me.”
The veteran BJP leader also asserted that no alliance discussion was also held in the party meeting presided over by national president JP Nadda.
“Aparajita Sarangi and Sambit Patra will fight for Lok Sabha seats from Bhubaneswar and Puri respectively. It will field candidates in all the 21 Lok Sabha constituencies”, said Tomar after arriving in Bhubaneswar.
