Bhubaneswar: A non-Hindu woman was detained by Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) for allegedly entering the Srimandir unauthorisedly. The woman was found speaking in Chinese language. She entered the Singha Dwar and went up to the Gumuta of the temple while the JTP intercepted her.
Initially, the woman was resisting the police while being rescued. Then the police forcibly took her to a temporary outpost. She was questioned at the outpost and later released.
Earlier in March, some Bangladeshi nationals were detained by police from inside the temple campus following members of Vishva Hindu Parishad informed the police
As per temple norms, only orthodox Hindus are allowed to enter the shrine. Non-hindus’s entry is completely prohibited. If anyone is found to be non-Hindu, action is taken against them, as per law.
