Notice To 82 Schools & 9 Colleges With Nil Results, Will Personally Visit & Assess Situation: Minister
Cuttack: After assuming charge, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash visited the office of Board of Secondary Education (BSE) on Thursday and assured betterment of academic system in the State schools. He also said that notice has been sent to 82 schools and nine colleges that have recorded nil results in Matric exams (Class 10) and annual +2 Science exams respectively this year and he will be personally visiting some of these institutions to assess the situation.
Addressing the media after his first visit, he said, “I have discussed everything in detail with BSE President Jahan Ara Begum. I will visit some schools where nil results were recorded and check if they are functioning properly or not. I will also check the children’s attendance record and talk to locals.”
“The pass percentage in Matric exams is also decreasing every year. Regarding that, I am in consultation with academicians and retired teachers. Parents and guardians are losing trust on government schools which is dangerous. I will definitely look into this as well. For example, parents trust private schools because English is taught better. So, maybe we can introduce spoken English classes in Government schools,” he added.
Chief Minister has given monthly targets to all Ministers and I will ensure speedy progress in the Department, he concluded.
