Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police neutralized a notorious apartment burglar Arjun Anare, in an encounter which took place in the wee hours of Monday under Paahala police limits on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, Arjun and his gang were planning for a burglary at an apartment under Pahala police jurisdiction when they were spotted by Balianta police while patrolling.
As the police approached, Arjun and his gang attempted to flee but were intercepted by the police.
In the ensuing encounter, Arjun opened fire on the police from the Balianta canal bridge. Balianta police retaliated, and Arjun was hit in the leg. Arjun failed to flee the scene after being fired while his gang members managed to escape.
Arjun was rushed to the Capital Hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as his condition worsened.
Four other members of Arjun’s gang managed to escape during the encounter.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing gang members.
