Notorious Criminal Attacked Over Past Rivalry In Bolangir

Bhubaneswar: A notorious criminal, Soumya Ranjan Das, was attacked with a sharp weapon in Balangir town on Wednesday evening.

Das, who has been accused of extortion and murder, was critically injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at the Bhim Bhoi Medical College and Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical, sources said.

According to sources, Das was walking near the Malapada Metakani Temple when a group of 10 youths attacked him with sharp weapons. The attackers fled the scene after leaving Das bleeding profusely.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are yet to arrest anyone in connection with the attack. It is suspected that the attack was a result of a past rivalry.

Das has several cases pending against him, including extortion and murder. Till the last report came in, no arrest has been made so far.
