Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police in the capital city of Bhubaneswar injured and nabbed notorious criminal Raghu Biswal in an encounter while he was trying to flee towards Cuttack on a motorbike along with his aide Punia Nayak late Wednesday night. The police recovered a pistol from his possession.
Raghu is wanted in over 32 dacoity, loot, and arms cases at different police stations in Bhubaneswar. He had turned into a terror in the city, especially in the Nandankanan area. According to Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, the criminal belongs to the notorious Raghu Rao gang.
According to reports, a team from Mancheswar police came across Raghu and Punia while patrolling in on Wednesday night. Seeing the police the notorious criminals opened fire at them and tried to escape towards Cuttack taking the Bhubaneswar-Balijatra road. However, Raghu was shot in the left leg in the counter-firing by police, while Punia managed to escape.
Raghu was first rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The police will interrogate Raghu once he recovers from the bullet injury.
