Cuttack: The Commissionerate of Police has achieved a major success with the arrest of notorious dacoit Sk Babu alias Sk Rafiq. The police seized stolen goods worth Rs 21 lakh from the accused.
This includes 295 grams of gold ornaments, two kg silver ornaments, Rs 2 lakh cash, two laptops, 10 mobile phones, cameras and two iron rods used in thefts. He used to carry out robberies on his own, the police said.
Sk Babu, a native of Jagatpur’s Pirbazar area has 9 cases pending against him in different police stations, said Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra. He committed crimes in the Cuttack city area where the targets were houses in secluded areas.
He used to do reconnaissance and conduct the thefts at night. Most interestingly, Babu used to come on the job famished and always had a good meal after success from the fridge of the victim’s family, the police added.
