Bhubaneswar: A notorious criminal was injured after a fierce encounter with the Berhampur police in Ganjam district.
Sources said the criminal named Sunil Nahak sustained injuries in the encounter and was hospitalised with a bullet injury in his left leg.
Sunil had multiple cases against him, and the police had been tracking him down. And on the instructions of the Ganjam Superintendent of Police, a police team led by the Golanthara officer chased him. Sunil opened fire, and the police retaliated, hitting him with a bullet. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police conducted an encounter on the Peetatali-Chikiti Road.
The police had been conducting a special operation against him due to his involvement in various crimes, including a loot case at Nimkhandi police station. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about Sunil’s criminal activities.
