Bhubaneswar: Henceforth the citizens can dial 112 to avail emergent help from the Odisha Police. It is to be at public service with immediate effect.
As per a press note issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today, the emergency aid sought by the citizens over the toll-free phone number 112 can now be catered to immediately. There is no need of dialling separate numbers for availing police, ambulance and woman helpline, etc.
Earlier, there had been 100, 101, 102, 104, 108, 181 and 1098 for specific emergency services while 112 has been now one and all. There is no need of dialling those numbers specifically.
The universal phone number 112 was today dedicated to the people of Odisha by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Chief Minister also accorded his seal of approval to 1098 posts to be created by the Odisha Police Department.
In order to monitor the 112 emergency phone services, four DSPs, 151 SIs, 203 ASIs and 740 Constables will be deployed.
Besides, 198 Call Taker Executives (CTEs) will also be outsourced while 236 vehicles will be pressed into action.
