Our teams there have been geared up further for treatment and rushing the cases immediately to the DHH. I’m optimistic that the situation would improve. Meanwhile with the death of a 2-year-old girl at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here on Friday, the toll due to killer Japanese Encephalitis (JE) reached 52 in the last 36 days. The deceased has been identified as Jayanti Madkami of Katangapallu village under Padia block in the district.

Need to be mentioned here that, 7-year-old Rebika, elder sister of Jayanati, had also succumbed to the vector-borne deadly disease on Thursday.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan after visiting three affected blocks on Thursday and Friday told media, “The SC/ST Cell of PCC is going to hold ‘Sishu Banchao Bikhyov’ (save child demonstration) here on October 26. Apart from this, a ‘Swasthiya Sachatenata Yatra’ (health awareness walkathon) will also be organised in the seven blocks here besides imparting healthcare.”
