Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a nowcast warning of rain and thunderstorms for more than a few districts in Odisha till 4.30 pm today.
Light to moderate rain, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely in some places in Khurda, Puri, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, and Balangir districts in the next three hours.
The IMD has advised people to keep a watch on the weather and move accordingly to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda were the hottest places in Odisha at 39.8°C by 11.30 am. Hirakud and Sambalpur were next hottest at 39.2°C and 39.0°C respectively.
On Monday, Sambalpur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 42.6°C followed by Hirakud (41.6°C), Sonepur (41.4°C), and Baripada, Titlagarh, and Rourkela at 41°C. The maximum day temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 40.1°C and 38.5°C respectively
