Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said light to moderate rain and thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is likely to affect some parts of Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal (including Bhubaneswar city) within the next three hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for various districts of the state for the next three days.
Though there is no heatwave alert for coastal and interior Odisha, a heatwave warning will remain in force for several parts of western Odisha, the IMD said.
