Rourkela: The Sports competition in Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) which started on December 13, concluded today.
The event was a part of Nua-O and Yuva Odisha, Nabin Odisha Programme.
On the occasion, a grand event was organized in Udit Nagar ground where prizes were distributed to participants by Labour Minister Sarada Nayak.
The Minister said, the state government is organizing ‘Nua-O, Yuva Odisha Nabin Odisha program across the State to make youth mass empowered through sports. This visionary initiative of the government has been taken to explore the hidden sports talent from the grassroots level.
Minister Nayak who was present as the chief guest said, “This initiative of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will help empower young mass. The state government is creating excellent sports infrastructure. Through the programme, many talented players from Rourkela will represent the country and will surely bring glory to Rourkela and Odisha in the days to come.
More than 2,200 contestants across the city took part in the competition. Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Kabadi and Kho-Kho sports were part of the event.
