Bhubaneswar: The Nuapada Assembly by-election witnessed an impressive voter turnout of 65.20% by 3 pm on polling day, marking a sharp rise from 51.42% at 1 pm, 32.51% at 11 am, and 14.99% at 9 am, according to Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R. S Gopalan.

CEO Gopalan informed that polling across the constituency, including sensitive and Sakhi booths, has been smooth and peaceful.

Minor technical issues were reported, with one Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) replaced at booth no. 298 and one Ballot Unit (BU), Control Unit (CU), and VVPAT replaced at booth no. 80. The Presiding Officer of booth no. 46 was suspended for violating polling secrecy norms.

The Election Commission has deployed CCTV monitoring across polling stations, ensuring real-time supervision from district and state headquarters.

CEO Gopalan said all efforts are being made to ensure a free, fair, and transparent by-election in Nuapada.
