Bhubaneswar: The Nuapada Assembly by-election witnessed an encouraging voter turnout of 51.42% by 1 pm on polling day, a sharp increase from 32.51% at 11 am and 14.99% at 9 am, according to Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R. S Gopalan.
The by-poll, conducted in a single phase, has seen enthusiastic participation from voters across the constituency, reflecting the growing public engagement in the democratic process. Early morning polling was slow, but turnout steadily increased as the day progressed.
The Odisha CEO is personally monitoring the by-election from the State Control Room, along with senior officials, to ensure smooth and transparent polling.
The entire process is being continuously observed through CCTV cameras installed at polling stations, and any issues reported are being promptly addressed from both District and State Headquarters.
“The polling process is being closely monitored to ensure that the by-election is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner,” Gopalan said.
Security arrangements have been strengthened, with police and election staff deployed across the constituency to prevent any untoward incidents.
Voting continues in Nuapada until 5 pm, and the final turnout figures are expected to be higher than the midday numbers.
