Bhubaneswar: Campaigning for the Nuapada Assembly by-election concluded on Sunday, with the 48-hour silence period coming into effect from 4 pm, said Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R. S Gopalan.
He added that political leaders and activists who had gathered in Nuapada to campaign for their respective parties left the constituency ahead of the deadline.
Adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth polling in the by-election scheduled for November 11, Gopalan said. Central security forces have been deployed at all polling booths, 47 of which have been identified as sensitive. Law and order in the constituency are under control, he added.
“At all sensitive booths, police personnel will be deployed along with one-fourth of the Central Armed Police Force to maintain security,” the CEO said.
During the silent period, individuals may go house-to-house requesting votes, but mass or group campaigning is strictly prohibited. All activities must conclude by 10 pm and should not endanger anyone, he added.
