Bhubaneswar: The vigilance department today arrested the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) of Nuapada and seized Rs. 1.32 lakh from his possession in a corruption case.

Acting on reliable information, a vigilance team intercepted MVI Bijay Kumar Behuria near Khordha Hospital Square while he was travelling from Nuapada to Bhubaneswar in a private vehicle. The cash, which Behuria failed to account for satisfactorily, was recovered and seized along with the vehicle.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at Behuria’s residences in Nuapada, Jajpur, and Bhubaneswar, as well as his office chamber in Nuapada.
A case has been registered against Behuria under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and he has been arrested and produced in court. The investigation is underway.
