Bhubaneswar: The “Nyaya Sanhita Exhibition” being held at the Exhibition Grounds here is witnessing enthusiastic participation, with visitors from different sections of society gathering to learn about India’s newly introduced criminal laws through interactive and cultural programmes.
The exhibition has been designed as a public awareness initiative to familiarise citizens with the provisions of the new criminal justice system. Stage plays, walking dramas and various awareness activities are being organised to explain the key aspects of the laws in an engaging and easily understandable manner.
On Wednesday, officials and staff of the Judicial Department, editors and bureau chiefs from several prominent newspapers and electronic media organisations of the state, advisor to the Chief Minister, officers and employees of the Home Department, students from different educational institutions and sportspersons from the Sports and Youth Services Department visited the exhibition and interacted with the exhibits.
During a special programme held on the occasion, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania held a discussion with editors from print and electronic media on the implementation of the new criminal laws. He highlighted that the reformed legal framework aims to ensure faster and more assured justice for victims. According to him, the investigation process under the new system has been made more transparent, technology-driven and effective.
Khurania also elaborated on key provisions such as the greater role of forensic investigation, the admissibility of digital evidence and the introduction of time-bound procedures for criminal investigations.
One of the major attractions of the exhibition is a walking drama that portrays the entire justice delivery process — beginning from the occurrence of a crime and moving through police investigation to the court proceedings up to the High Court. Through this performance, artists present the functioning of the justice system in a coherent and educational format.
By visually depicting each stage of the process, the drama helps audiences easily understand the relevance and practical aspects of the new criminal laws. The innovative presentation has generated considerable interest among visitors, making the exhibition a lively and informative platform for legal awareness.
