Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) on Monday strongly condemned the assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, who was attacked while performing his official duties.
Expressing deep outrage over the incident, the association declared a mass leave on July 1, 2025, as a mark of protest against the violent act targeting a government official.
“This is to formally inform you that the Odisha Administrative Service Association has unanimously resolved to proceed on mass leave with effect from 1st July 2025, in protest against the appalling and deplorable attack on the Additional Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, which occurred in broad daylight within official premises,” the notice read.
The association further urged the state government to take strict and immediate action against the perpetrators, emphasising the need to safeguard the safety and dignity of officers serving the public.
“We urge the competent authorities to take immediate and exemplary action against those responsible and to implement robust measures to ensure the safety and protection of officers at the workplace,” the statement added.
OASA appealed to all its members to participate in the mass leave, sending a strong message against violence directed at administrative officers.
