Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has chalked a strategic plan to develop cricket from the junior levels across the state. The newly appointed Technical Director of OCA said that special camps will be held by the association, keeping OCA Vision 2024 in mind.
In these camps, the focus will be laid on grooming young cricketers, coaches and support staff. Besides, attention will be paid to the academics of cricketers below the age of 14, added Venkatraman. This is the first time such camps are being held by the OCA after the appointment of Dinesh Mongia as the Head Coach.
In the past, the OCA had organised the ‘Spinner Hunt’ camp in which cricketers from 5 zones participated in the first phase. Spinners in the age group of 16 to 30 from Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Paradip, and Bhubaneswar, had participated in the Spinner Hunt camp.
The OCA expects that the proposed Special Camp for juniors will be a successful one and talents can be effectively screened and subsequently chiseled into star cricketers of the country. The association plans to take OCA to a new level altogether in the near future.
