OCA Vision 2024: Sports Minister Lays Foundation Stone Of Cricket Academies Across Odisha

Cuttack: Sports and Youth Affairs Department Minister Tusharkanti Behera today laid the foundation stones for proposed cricket academies of the OCA across Odisha. The initiative to setup cricket academies is a part of OCA’s Vision 2024.

The academies, run by the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) will provide an apt breeding ground to produce cricketing talents from all corners of the State.

In a function held over video conference, Behera laid the foundation stone of cricket academies in Bhubaneswar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundergarh, Nuapada, Angul, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

The proposed cricket academies will have a ground, coach and proper infrastructure for players. Sports Department Secretary Vishal Dev, OCA president Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera and members of OCA were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behera informed that very soon Odisha Cricket Association will be developing Infrastructure across rest of the districts. “This will help cricketers in the grass root level get the top-notch facilities and advanced coaching, which will be highly beneficial for our state.”

During the proceedings the former cricketer Debashis Mohanty highlighted the importance of turf wickets and for enhancement of player skills in modern cricket. Similarly, Sanjay Raul spoke about importance of scientific coaching and advanced technology in modern cricket.

Former Indian opener Shiv Sundar Das said, “Enhanced and structured competition gives ample opportunity to players.” Pragyan Ojha was present during the virtual meeting and described the phenomenal reforms that has taken in OCA in the recent past which has come from the visionary leadership of the new management.

Wasim Jaffer in his video message shared about the reforms that has taken place in Odisha Cricket and their much ambitious project OCA [email protected] under which the OCA has developed in all verticals of the game. “The professionalism and spirited culture developed in the recent times has evolved OCA as most pro-active association in our country. This has inspired me to join hands with Odisha Cricket as the Chief Coach,” he added.

The meeting was concluded by the Odisha Cricket Association president, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty who extended gratitude to all stakeholders for their participation in this crucial event.
