Bhubaneswar: The 292nd Board of Directors Meeting of Odisha Construction Corporation Ltd. (OCCL) was held today under the chairpersonship of Anu Garg, Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary, Water Resources, Odisha.
During the meeting, officials revealed that projects worth Rs 3,673 crore are currently in the pipeline. This includes mechanical works worth Rs 86 crore and initiatives from departments such as Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Science & Technology, and Tourism.
Under the tourism sector, OCCL will execute the integrated development and upgradation of the Hirakud Reservoir area. The project, costing over Rs 100 crore, will feature a light and sound show, arrival plaza, and Dam Museum.
The Kusabhadra Instream Storage Structure (ISS) is expected to be completed by June 2026, while the Kuakhai ISS will be ready by December 2026. Once completed, the projects will create a riverfront near Bhubaneswar city and rejuvenate the dying Prachi River.
Meanwhile, the Kanupur Dam has been completed, and work on its spillway is underway, with completion slated for December 2025. The project is expected to control flooding in the Baitarani River and provide irrigation to 30,000 hectares in Keonjhar district.
OCCL’s latest initiatives underline the state’s focus on infrastructure development, environmental rejuvenation, and boosting tourism in Odisha.
