Bhubaneswar: A high-level review meeting of the Odisha Construction Corporation Limited (OCCL) was held on Friday under the chairpersonship of Shubha Sarma, Principal Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, to assess the progress of ongoing projects and chart the future roadmap of the corporation.
The meeting, organized at the OCCL Conference Hall in Bhubaneswar, conducted a detailed evaluation of the status of various infrastructure projects being executed by the corporation across the state.
Managing Director of OCCL, Bighnaraj Purohit, along with Chief Engineers and other senior officials attended the meeting. Project heads from different worksites also joined the session virtually, presenting real-time updates and field-level data on the progress of projects.
During the review, emphasis was laid on strengthening the administrative framework of the corporation. Officials were directed to ensure regular performance evaluation of outsourced personnel to maintain professional efficiency and accountability in project execution.
To ensure timely completion of projects, senior officials were also instructed to intensify field visits and maintain close monitoring of ongoing works. The meeting stressed the need for rigorous supervision to address delays and improve coordination among implementing agencies.
A comprehensive assessment was conducted regarding budget sanctions and expenditure estimates for both completed and ongoing projects. Particular attention was given to the progress of in-stream storage structures currently being constructed across several rivers in the state to enhance water conservation and irrigation capacity.
The chair directed officials to expedite the Kanpur and Suktel projects before the onset of the monsoon to enable timely water impoundment.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the status of gate works in various dam projects being executed under different departments, with instructions issued for their timely completion to ensure operational readiness ahead of the rainy season.
