Bhubaneswar: Odisha Coal and Power Ltd (OCPL), the lone coal mining company owned by the State government has donated Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
In a function organized at the Lokaseva Bhavan here today, Energy Secretary Nikunja Dhal in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik via video conferencing presented a cheque of Rs 10 crore to CMRF through Chief Secretary Suresh Mahapatra. OCPL provided the amount from its profit, said an official press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Energy Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra, CEO OCPL Sariputta Mishra and other senior officers were present during the function.
It is pertinent to mention here that within a very short period of time OCPL has turned out to be a major profitable enterprise of the State government. During the coal crisis in the country, OCPL has produced more coal than the production target set by the government for this year. The coal produced was used by several industries inside and outside the State.
OCPL through various means and its relentless endeavour has been empowering women and youth of Sundargarh district.
