Dhenkanal: A man who is in his eighties has knocked on the door of the Dhenkanal District Collector as his children have declared him dead and are unwilling to accept him into their family.
Reportedly, Sarat Chandra Sahu of Paramahanspur village in Kualo gram panchayat under Parjang block of Dhenkanal district was working as a daily wage labourer.
With his little earnings he was able to feed his family of five including his wife Ratani, two sons Balaram and Parshuram, and daughter Subhadra. He also performed the marriage of his children and was looking forward to leading a retired life.
However, due to some circumstances, Sarat had left for Bhubaneswar to earn a living. On his return after a few months, he found people were surprised to see him. He came to know from villagers that his sons had performed his last rites.
Surprised by the news, he went to his house but his family denied to accept him. Following it, he approached the local administration for their support but his children are not ready to let him enter their house.
Meanwhile, Sarat is staying in the house of another villager and is dependent on his old age pension. After being unable to get any justice from the office of Kamakhyanagar Sub-Collector, he has now approached the Collector.
