Odia Boy Pramod Bhagat Clinches Gold In Thailand Para Badminton International 2018

**Bhubaneswar**: Bargarh boy Pramod Bhagat has made the state and the nation proud by clinching gold in the Thailand Para-Badminton International tournament in Bangkok on Sunday.

In the men’s singles SL3 category, Bhagat scored 21-18, 21-9 in two games against his fellow Indian competitor Manoj Sarkar, thus scoring the top position.

Afflicted with polio at the age of seven, Bhagat had first participated in national para badminton championship in 2006. He bagged gold medal in the doubles event of the World Championship in Germany 2013.

He has also secured bronze medals in singles and doubles event of the 4th Turkish Para Badminton Championship that was held in May 2018.

In 2015, Bhagat had also bagged top positions in the BWF Para Badminton World Championship that was held in United Kingdom.

Four players from Odisha had been selected to represent India in the Thailand Para-Badminton 2018 international event at Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok which kicked off on Wednesday.

The three other players are Dileswar Rao, Diparanjan Bisoi and Sunil Pradhan.
