Balasore: The mortal remains of Odia BSF Jawan Prakash Sial were consigned to flames with full state honour at his native village Gopalpur under Bahanaga block in Balasore district today.
He was accorded a guard of honour and gun salute after his body arrived in the village. The vehicle carrying the body was accompanied by a massive procession. A huge congregation of local people, local leaders and senior district officials paid last tributes to the departed soul.
His minor son lit the funeral pyre in the presence of a huge crowd. As the body arrived in the native place, ‘Prakash Sial Amar Rahe’ slogan reverberated through the air.
Earlier, Prakash was also given a guard of honour at the Bhubaneswar airport.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also condoled the demise of the jawan. He expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

Sial suffered critical injuries in an IED (improvised explosive device) blast in Kanker of Chhattisgarh on Monday. He was admitted to Raipur Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.
He was one of the jawans of a joint party comprising of BSF personnel and District Force members. The party was en route from Camp Marbeda to the Rengaghati Rengagondi polling station, along with four polling teams dispatched from Kanker.
Besides Prakash, two polling team members were also injured in the blast.
