Jharsuguda: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan from Brajrajnagar area in Jharsuguda district of Odisha committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at his camp in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Friday.
Sukma SP KL Dhruv informed that the jawan, identified as Kamalakant Rohidas, shot self at around 12 AM on Friday night. A probe has been initiated to ascertain the cause behind his suicide.
His body was sent to Brajrananagar after post-mortem and was handed over to his family under the supervision of the Brajrajnagar police. His last rites were performed today on the bank of Ib river with full police honour.
Reportedly, Kamalakant had lost his father three months back. He is now survived by his mother, two sisters, and four older brothers. He had joined the CRPF in 2014 and posted in Jharkhand. Shortly afterwards, he was transferred to Sukma district in Chhattisgarh.
