Bhubaneswar: Odia migrants from Surat who were injured after the bus they were travelling in met with an accident near Kalinga Ghat on Ganjam-Kandhamal border today continued their journey after receiving initial treatment.
As per reports, after the accident, the passengers were sent to their destination in another bus. Three persons who had sustained minor injuries in the accident received initial treatment at Bhanjanagar.
Soon after the accident, DIG (Southern Range) Satyabrata Bhoi and Kandhamal SP Prateek Singh had rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
It was third such mishap within 24 hours. Yesterday night, a bus carrying stranded Odias from Surat to Ganjam overturned at Andharkote on the Kalinga Ghat on the Ganjam-Kandhamal border in which two persons had died.
Today morning, five people were injured as the bus carrying over 50 Odia migrants from Surat overturned on Nagpur-Amravati National Highway in Maharashtra.
Following the mishaps, Odisha Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera ordered a change of route for transportation of Odia migrants from Surat stating the drivers lack any experience in driving on ghat roads or may not be accustomed to drive the extremely long distance.
