Titilagarh: The mortal remains of Humane Sagar, one of Odisha’s most adored and popular playback singer was laid to rest this evening at a local church in Titilagarh, Balangir district.

An overwhelming sea of mourners—lakhs of fans, admirers and well-wishers—gathered from across the region to bid an emotional farewell to the beloved artiste whose voice had become an inseparable part of Odia music in the past decade.

People poured in from Balangir, Kantabanji, Saintala and nearby areas, hoping for one last glimpse of the singer. As the body reached his hometown, thousands thronged the lanes outside his residence, reflecting the deep bond Humane Sagar had forged with listeners over the years. Family members, relatives and fans offered prayers and paid their last respects as the funeral rites were conducted with solemnity and tradition.

Humane Sagar passed away on Monday night around 9 pm while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He had been admitted with serious liver and kidney-related complications that later led to respiratory distress, pneumonia, hepatopathy, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy. Despite being placed on ventilator support and the sustained efforts of doctors, he succumbed to the conditions, slipping into eternal rest.

Rising to fame with his debut song “Prem Hei Jaere” from the 2014 album Something Something-2, Humane Sagar quickly became a household name. His unmistakable voice and emotional depth spanned every genre—from romantic melodies to soulful devotional numbers, from heart-wrenching songs of separation to high-energy dance tracks.

Over the years, he delivered a long list of hits that continue to echo in the hearts of listeners. Among his most cherished songs are Kemiti Bhulibi Se Abhula Dina, Kuade Galu Pageli, Kain Kanduchu Kaha, Tu Megha Heija, Gajara Gava Bali, Mariyibi Dhana To Bina, Mane Tu Paduchu Alo Pageli, Jhariyae Luha, Hela Ki Prema, Dhima Dhima Akhi, Ishq Tu Hi Tu, Gajala Gajala, Sabu Najara Lage Prema Najara, Nare Nare, Chhati Ta Ragadi Delare, Baby O Baby, Bapa, and countless others that shaped his remarkable musical journey.

As the singer’s final journey concluded in his hometown, the collective grief of Odisha’s music lovers painted a poignant picture of the void he leaves behind—one that will be hard to fill for years to come.
