Bhubaneswar: As part of the ongoing “Odia Pakhya” celebrations, being observed for the first time across Odisha from April 1 to April 14, a statewide Swachhata Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) was held on Sunday.
The cleanliness campaign was organized around temples, heritage monuments, and tourist spots across various districts. The primary goal was to promote cleanliness at these culturally significant locations, thereby fostering a healthy and aesthetically pleasing environment for both locals and visitors.
The drive, which spanned all blocks and districts, saw enthusiastic participation from district and block-level administrations, municipal and panchayati raj representatives, voluntary organizations, youth groups, local residents, and public representatives. Together, they undertook cleaning activities around temple premises, village shrines, and iconic heritage sites.
In addition to the hands-on cleaning activities, participants spread awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public places. They also shared their joy and sense of participation in this unique cultural celebration by uploading photos of the Swachhata Abhiyan on the official Odia Pakhya website.
The campaign received widespread appreciation and served as a reminder that cultural pride goes hand in hand with civic duties.
It not only highlighted Odisha’s glorious traditions but also emphasized the value of a clean and sustainable environment.
