Bhubaneswar: In a significant recognition of academic and research excellence, several scientists and researchers from Odisha have been featured in the prestigious ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ list, compiled annually by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier and Scopus.
This year’s list includes 38 researchers from various prominent institutions across the state. Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, leads the tally with 20 scientists, followed by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, with 18. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, has 6 scientists featured.
Two scientists each from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur; Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT); Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR); and Sambalpur University have also made it to the list.
In addition, one scientist each from CIPET:SARP–LARPM, Bhubaneswar; Fakir Mohan University, Balasore; Ravenshaw University, Cuttack; GIET University, Gunupur; Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar; ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar; and Sri Sri University in Cuttack have secured a place in the global ranking.
The Stanford list identifies the top 2% of scientists worldwide based on standardised citation metrics, which include total citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted index, and a composite indicator for career-long impact and recent productivity.
Scientists are classified into 22 main fields and 174 sub-fields, making the list one of the most comprehensive global assessments of research influence.
The recognition is a proud moment for Odisha, highlighting the state’s growing presence in global scientific research and innovation.
