Bhubaneswar: The Nayapalli police in Bhubaneswar on Thursday night arrested Odia playback singer Debesh Pati from Jajpur. The police action came after a girl from Odisha’s Bhadrak filed a complaint alleging that the singer betrayed her after an affair with her.
Pati was produced before a court and further investigation into the complaint is underway.
In her complaint registered with Nayapalli police, the girl alleged that Pati kept physical relations with her on the pretext of marriage. He also took a large amount of money from her on different occasions and did not return the same. Pati has also been accused of torturing the girl physically and mentally.
The arrest was made on the basis of WhatsApp chat and money transactions between the two.
