Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of popular Odia singer Humane Sagar reached his native village, Deng, on Tuesday afternoon.
The singer, who passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after a prolonged illness, was remembered for his contributions to Odia music.
As the ambulance carrying his body arrived, crowds gathered. Elderly villagers shared memories of his childhood, recalling his journey from Deng to becoming one of Odisha’s most sought-after playback singers.
Humane Sagar, the late singer, was born on November 12, 1990, to parents Ravi Sagar, a music composer, and Shefali Suna, a music teacher. His family was deeply involved in music, and he grew up in a musical environment. Humane’s younger brother, Neuman Sagar, passed away at the age of 22, and his father, Ravi Sagar, succumbed to COVID-19.
Humane studied at St. Anne’s School in Titlagarh and married Shreya Mishra in 2017.
Humane Sagar, 36, had battled liver complications and multi-organ failure. He rose to fame after winning ‘Voice of Odisha’ Season 2 in 2012 and went on to sing over 150 film songs and 200 album tracks. His hits like ‘Ishq Tu Hi Tu’ and ‘Sehzadi O Sehzadi’ continue to resonate with fans.
His death has been mourned by the people of Titlagarh.
