**Bhubaneswar:** Ace sprinters Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu have made the State proud once again by performing exceptionally well at the ongoing 23rd Federation Cup National Senior Athletic Championships at Patiala in Punjab on Saturday.
While Chand clinched the gold medal by clocking 23.35 seconds in the 200-meter race, Jauna Murmu finished the 400-metre hurdles in 57.58 seconds and took home the bronze medal.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter and congratulated the sprinters Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu on their success.
“Congratulate ace sprinter Dutee Chand on winning gold in 200m Sprint at 23rd Senior Federation Athletics Championships in Patiala. Best wishes” and “Congratulate Jauna Murmu for winning bronze medal in 400m hurdles at 23rd Senior Federation Athletics Championships in Patiala. Best wishes”, he wrote for the athletes.
On February 27, Asian Games silver medallist Dutee Chand ran 23.30s to win her second gold medal in the IGP series. The timing will help Dutee improve her IAAF World Ranking in the 200m event. Her timing also ensured that the Odisha sprinter made the qualifying cut-off for the Asian Athletics Championships, to be held in Doha, Qatar.
