Bhubaneswar: Odia weightlifter Jhili Dalabehera bagged the bronze medal in the 49 KG Senior category at the IWLF Junion & Senior National Weightlifting, 2021-2022, here on Tuesday.
Lifters H Jhinnarani Devi and Sanjita Chanu bagged the Gold and Silver medal respectively in that category.
Dronacharya Awardee Pal Singh Sandhu, Competition Director of IWLF Nationals 2022, lauded Odisha Government’s role in promoting various sports & thanked the State Government for hosting the event.
The event is being held at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium at KIIT Deemed to be University here. “This event will create weightlifters who’ll bring glory to India in future,” said Sandhu.
Another Odia lifter Sneha Soren won the bronze medal in Inter-State 49 kg (Sr) category at the National event today.

The National Weightlifting Championships for senior men and women as well as for youth and junior categories began on March 19 at Bhubaneswar. Over 900 athletes, support staff and technical officials from 30 states and Union Territories are participating in this championship which will conclude on March 31.
