Bargarh: A woman belonging to Badmal village in Dunguri panchayat of Ambabhona block died while she was fishing with her husband in Mahanadi upstream in Chhattisgarh.
The deceased, Janata Majhi was married to a man belonging to Bargaon village under Saria police limits in Raigarh district. On Monday evening, Janata and her husband were fishing in a boat near Kalma barage.
They were caught in a thunderstorm and the boat capsized. Janata was swept away in high current of river Mahanadi. As per a report filed by her husband at Saria police station, he tried to search Janata, but failed.
Today morning the woman’s body was spotted in the central region of the barrage and retrieved by Fire personnel. Janata is survived by her children. A pall of gloom descended on Bargaon as the news spread.
