Berhampur: A youth from Shyamsundarpur village under Khallikote block in Ganjam district of Odisha is now stranded in Doha city of Qatar and has sought the help of the State Government for his repatriation.
Bishnu Prasad Dakua had gone to Doha last year to work as a manual labourer in a company. The company had earlier promised to send him home after two years at their expense but instead evicted him from the labour camp after one year with only six months of pay.
As he had lost his Visa, Passport and mobile phone in the labour camp, he was unable to return home. He had also been picked up by police and was behind bars for two months. After being released, he was forced to beg for food.
It was after a fellow Indian saw him crying on the road, he asked Bishnu about his details and helped him call his family members. After learning about his condition, Bishnu’s parents approached the district administration and requested his safe return.
In a video call, Bishnu also asked the State Government to rescue him.
After receiving the grievance, Additional District Magistrate Lina Kumari Xess said that the matter will be examined and discussed. The administration will try its best for his safe return and will also seek action against the companies that are harassing such youths.
