Bhubaneswar: Barun Bisoi’s poor upbringing in the tribally dominant Kandhamal area of Odisha didn’t prevent him from having high dreams. His love of Bollywood led him to Mumbai, where he is making the state of Odisha proud and winning accolades for it.
The most recent project for Mumbai-based Bisoi was the hit film Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol. The young man from Odisha has been praised for his outstanding performance in the successful film.
He is making his mother happy with his accomplishments and diligence after she fought tooth and nail to ensure that he had a secure childhood following the passing away of his father.
Due to his abject poverty, Barun had to overcome several challenges as he was growing up. Since he was a teenager, he has had to work as a tailor to support his widowed mother, who does odd jobs to make ends meet.
He had higher aspirations, though, and they led him to Mumbai, the city of dreams. Barun achieved success as a foley artist in Mumbai after years of difficulty working as a canteen boy, and he hasn’t looked back since.
Bisoi has performed as a foley artist and appeared in a number of successful films. His mother has been Bisoi’s role model. A proud mother, she said that she feels great when others come and show his son’s works to her. “Barun has rose from poverty but he is an incredible talent.”
We visited a shrine and made prayers there before he left for Mumbai. After accepting my blessings, he started on his trip. When others show me his work, I am incredibly proud of him. He has such incredible talent,” his proud mother exclaimed.
