Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has procured 28 per cent more paddy under the current Kharif paddy procurement programme as compared to the corresponding period last year.
The State government has claimed to have procured 39,65,465 quintals of paddy as on December 7 last from 58,294 farmers as compared to 30,89,908 quintals during the corresponding period last year. Procurement of paddy from farmers through paddy procurement centres by the State government is 28 % more as compared to the corresponding period last year.
In order to make paddy procurement transparent from farmers registered online, procurement through P-PAS system by issuing advance tokens is underway.
As on December 7 last, 2,49,932 advance tokens have been issued to 2,43,219 farmers for procurement of paddy from them through 1,118 paddy procurement centres across 18 districts.
During the current Kharif paddy procurement programme as on December 7, Bargarh remains the district with the maximum paddy procurement-18,34,214 quintals from 26,608 farmers, Bolangir-2,83,359 quintals from 3,959 farmers, Boudh-14,789 quintal from 286 farmers, Kalahandi-4,96,718 quintals from 7,275 farmers, Koraput-1,26,541 quintals from 1,839 farmers, Malkangiri-1,83,233 quintals from 4,712 farmers, Nabarangpur-78,402 quintals from 1,211 farmers, Nuapada-1,28,986 quintals from 2981 farmers, Sambalpur-4,28,948 quintals from 4,766 farmers and Subarnapur-3,67,755 quintals from 4,318 farmers.
Similarly, as on December 7, Rs 583,7,50,848 has been credited to the bank accounts of 52,926 farmers towards the amount for procurement of paddy from them.
