Ganjam: The district police on Wednesday busted a major ganja smuggling racket with the arrested of four persons. A total of 3,000 kilograms ganja was seized by the Badagada police which conducted the raid late last night.
The smugglers were arrested from an undisclosed location on Ganjam – Gajapati border. Four trucks loaded with ganja have been confiscated. The accused were identified as Jakab Majhi, Mojesh Gamango, Sindhu Gamangi and Manual Mandal. All belong to Adaba in Gajapati district, Ganjam SP Brijesh Rai said.
The seized contraband has been estimated at Rs 90 lakh. The racketeers used to collect ganja from Southern Odisha districts of Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and Malkangiri and later smuggle it to neighbouring States.
