Odisha: 4 COVID Warriors Of VIMSAR Test Positive

Bhubaneswar:   All the four new Covid-19 positive cases detected in Sambalpur today are Covid Warriors, the Sambalpur district administration has informed on its official Twitter page @DmSambalpur.

Their age and gender break-up as shared by the district administration is as follows:
1. 28 years male
2. 37 years female
3. 30 years male
4. 35 years female

The district administration has further informed that they are Covid Warriors and were working at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.
All are being shifted to the dedicated Covid facility and their contact tracing is underway, the tweet added.

In yet another tweet the district administration has stated that the cumulative total of Covid positive cases in the district on date stands at 129 with 28 active cases and 101 recoveries-all of whom have been discharged.

The district administration has said that active cases are being taken care of by the health staff.
The Out Patient Department (OPD) VIMSAR has been closed till July 19, after some doctors and nurses in the institution tested positive for COVID-19.
A doctor and nurse of the Radiotherapy department of VIMSAR tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.
On Monday, a PG student of the medical college and a nurse, who were on duty at the central intensive care unit (ICU), had tested positive.

After the detection of the cases, the authorities issued a notice instructing all staff including doctors, nurses, attendants, and security personnel on duty at the central ICU to follow strict Infection Preventive Control (IPC) measures, use PPE kits and ensure their disposal as per biomedical waste management guidelines.

At least 20 doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital have been asked to stay in quarantine.
