Jharsuguda: Four personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) have been suspended after they were found to be involved in theft of 288 sacks of PDS rice from train wagons at Jharsuguda railway station.
The four placed under suspension are RPF Post Commander LN Das, ASI SK Kumar and two Havildars RV Thakur and D Baxla. RPF DG put the four under suspension over dereliction of duty. However, they have not been arrested yet.
In addition to the four RPF personnel, Rahul Sahu, Krishna Sahu and Tinku Kanta were arrested after found to be involved in theft of PDS rice. They have been forwarded to court.
The scam was uncovered on January 8 when Government Railway Police (GRP) officials found OSCSC tagged 288 sacks of rice at an abandoned house in the Railway Colony near Jharsuguda Railway station. A probe was initiated and Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Kumar Samal had promised stringent action against the culprits.
