Odisha: 4 Sustain Critical Burn Injuries In NALCO Plant Fire Mishap

Angul: Four workers sustained critical burn injuries after a fire broke out at the Angul plant of National Aluminium Company (NALCO) on Tuesday. The fire broke out around 10 am in the morning after a flashover high-voltage in Smelter Casthouse-B, stated reports.

Contractual worker Mithun Nath, two apprentices Bisweswar Samal and Rajanikant Parida and a woman worker Rinkina Sahoo sustained injuries in the mishap. The injured were rushed to NALCO hospital for treatment and later referred to a SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Later in the day, NALCO issued a statement that three persons were out of danger while the company is bearing all expenses for the treatment of the fourth injured person, who is still critical.

Nalco CMD TK Chand visited the victims at Ashwini Trauma Care Hospital in Cuttack today and wished them a speedy recovery.

He interacted with the doctors and advised them to “leave no stone unturned in treating the patients.” Chand also interacted with family members of the victims and assured them all help from NALCO.
