Odisha: 40 School Students Hospitalised After Taking Saraswati Puja Bhog

Baripada (Mayurbhanj): In an untoward incident, over 40 students of a primary school in this tribal-dominated district fell ill and have been hospitalized after consuming ‘bhog’ of Saraswati Puja yesterday. The incident came to light here as 30 students have been admitted to the medical college and hospital here in the district headquarters town of Baripada.

The incident took place at Rangamatia Primary School under Baripada block. They had all consumed ‘bhog’ made of ‘chuda’ (flattened rice) yesterday during the school puja. After returning their respective homes, over 40 students fell ill. They all complained of vomiting and loose motion. They were first admitted to the local hospital.

Out of them, 30 students have been admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Baripada later on. Medical sources said that all the admitted students are stable.

Baripada Block Education Officer (BEO) and the administrative authorities of the medical college are monitoring the treatment.
