Bhubaneswar: Nearly 48 lakh beneficiaries under Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) in the State will get Summer Allowance of Rs 100 each as per the earlier issued directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, informed Odisha Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Ashok Chandra Panda here today.
Speaking to reporters, the Minister said that there are about 28 lakh beneficiaries under MBPY and about 20 lakh under NSAP in the State.
He informed that Summer Allowance is given to these beneficiaries every two years and it is due this year.
Disbursement of the allowance will commence in the last week of May or latest by first week of June, he added.
The Minister said that Rs 2.50 crore will be provided to 13 organisations to take up awareness programmes among trangenders to get them to the mainstream in 314 blocks and urban local bodies (ULBs) spreadover in 30 districts of the State.
Panda further informed that stipend to boarders in Special Schools run by the SSEPD department has been increased to Rs 1,750 a month for 10 months as against the earlier Rs 1,200 a month.
